Sometimes you want to ask someone nearby to help you take a picture. In this lesson we will learn how to do this as well as how to use a popular Chinese camera app called \u7f8e\u989c\u76f8\u673a [m\u011bi y\u00e1n xi\u00e0ng j\u012b]\uff08BeautyCam\uff09.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhotograph\u201d in Chinese is \u7167\u7247 [zh\u00e0o pi\u00e0n], and to say \u201ctake a photo\u201d you can use \u7167\u76f8 [zh\u00e0o xi\u00e0ng] or \u62cd\u7167 [p\u0101i zh\u00e0o]. If you want to ask someone to take a photo for you, you can say:<\/p>\n\n\n<div data-du-interactive=\"89dde46eb\" class=\"wp-block-du-interactive-example\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>To help us bring out that beautiful smile, we often say a phrase when we take the photo. Americans like to say \u201ccheese\u201d, but what about the Chinese? The Chinese equivalent is \u8304\u5b50 [qi\u00e9 zi] \uff08lit. eggplant\uff09. Just like with \u201ccheese\u201d, you put on a huge smile when you say \u8304\u5b50.<\/p>\n\n\n<div data-du-interactive=\"7212dd198\" class=\"wp-block-du-interactive-example\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Most mobile phones have built-in cameras you can use for taking selfies. Taking a selfie is called \u81ea\u62cd [z\u00ec p\u0101i]. A lot of Chinese enjoy \u81ea\u62cd, and they upload their pictures to their WeChat community (\u670b\u53cb\u5708 [p\u00e9ng you qu\u0101n]). To make the picture even more beautiful, you can enhance the photo before uploading it. Perhaps the most popular app for enhancing photos right now is an app called \u7f8e\u989c\u76f8\u673a [m\u011bi y\u00e1n xi\u00e0ng j\u012b] \uff08BeautyCam\uff09. \u7f8e [m\u011bi] means beauty, \u989c [y\u00e1n] means face, and \u76f8\u673a [xi\u00e0ng j\u012b] means camera.<\/p>\n\n\n<div data-du-interactive=\"1bf9831d7\" class=\"wp-block-du-interactive-example\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>So how do you use \u7f8e\u989c\u76f8\u673a? Let\u2019s learn some camera related words while we take a look at the app. Some of the words below are a little difficult for beginners, so don&#8217;t feel like you need to memorize all of them.
